Oh auspicious day! On February 18, 1930, our fair planet friend Pluto was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh. Today Panda With Cookie celebrates this fine day.
Pluto IS a planet. The controversial IAU definition must be amended to include dwarf planets as a subcategory of planets to describe objects that are spherical but not gravitationally dominant in their orbits.
The debate over Pluto's celestial status is simply a government ploy to distract us from addressing the more pressing question of our time, namely, "where's my burrito?!" :-)

I would not call dwarf-planet status a downgrade! It's cuter that way.
