Awkward Food Photos: Chickpea Salad

Chickpeas! So tasty, so versatile! The chickpea salad recipe from Vegan With a Vengeance is one of my favourites. Hijiki is where it is at.

But what horror is this? You end up with is a big tan mash with some delicate black highlights. And a strip of blue in the back because it's part of your tupperware and you didn't want to sacrifice any of that pile o' tan to crop it out.

This photo needs help!

Slap a copyright on it! Choose a bright color that contrasts and can't be missed. Now you mean business and people are going to take this blog seriously. And big ol' bonus! Now no one can use your photo because it's got your name emblazoned across the bottom.

Beautiful! I can't wait to steal this and pretend I made up the recipe all on my own.

Did I say Vegan With a Vengeance? I meant Panda With a Vengeance.

I really, really, really hate how Pinterest and tumblr allows people to make their content out of other people's content without credit, so I tried the 'subtle url on the photo' thing. It lasted about a month because I got tired of spending the extra time in photoshop. It's not like I make money from my photos or my blog or anything, or they are all that nice.

I just pretend that tumblr and pinterest don't exist! Much less effort.

I dunno, there's a lot of colour in that photo. I'd maybe do a sepia filter to make it look browner and therefore more delicious.

It looks like puke in a pan. Awesome.

I think somebody should come out with a new vegan cookbook called "Tan Food". This is a clear beige winner.

Red watermarks! That's what my photos are missing. Thanks, friend.

Ha! My trick for this kind of thing is to zoom in really close, holding the camera at a jaunty angle. (See my post about oat bars.)
