Amazing Savings Find O' The Week

5 pound bag of Daiya: $2.99
This has been opened and most of it has gone to the freezer for later use. I'm not a huge Daiya fan but wanted some for use in an okra corn casserole and there was the 5 pound bag, waiting for me. You'll see it pop up a few times this month. The key is a small sprinkling rather than using a heavy hand to distribute evenly across your casserole. It has increased my Daiya joy.

Oooh, Daiya. I hope some day I'll get to try it too! That's good that it's freezable, I never use an entire package of vegan cheese at once.

that's one great find, indeed! wow! we use daiya for just a sprinkling as well - but if we're gonna go all out (pizzas and such) we still really love FHY. we've got a bunch of daiya in our freezer (and FYH we're shredded) - i love that about the cheezes. can't wait to see what you use it on. lots of yumminesses, i'm sure!

I'm tempted to go to Asheville just to go to Amazing Savings. I hear they often have good gluten free items too. And Daiya at $2.99? I usually pay $4.39 for an 8 oz bag and yet I can't stay away from the stuff.

That's why I got this bag. 5 pounds was cheaper than the 12 ounce bags at the grocery store.
I will dig up the recipe for okra corn casserole and post it soon. I got it from the fabulous Johnp up above. I am down with okra.

I will see how it does in the freezer. I've heard form a number of people that they do that with Daiya, so I hope it works.

And yes, Amazing Savings does have some decent gluten free items.

I have frozen daiya, and it doesn't change the texture or anything (and lasts forever). I put it in the fridge to thaw the night before I wanted it, though--I don't know whether you could use it directly frot he freezer.

An 8 ounce container usually lasts me a good two weeks. I made a chili cheese and TOT casserole a few weeks ago and still have so much left.

I am now anxiously awaiting chili cheese and tot casserole. Hello friends.

I will do a separate blog post with the okra recipe, perhaps tomorrow.

That is a deal! I stockpile the stuff here like it's a nuclear winter, buying ten thousand bags when I'm in the states and then never using it because the world might end if I run out. Either that or I'm a filthy hoarder, one or the other.

I would be hoarding Speculoos if I could. No shame!

Oh man, that is great! Vegan cheese is so hard to get here where I live and when I do find it, I have to pay an arm and a leg for it and there is certainly no daiya.

I just found your blog.
Happy MoFo!
